WARSAW, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Polish striker Krzysztof Piatek, who has played for German side Hertha BSC so far, joined ACF Fiorentina on loan with an option to buy, the Italian Serie A club announced on Saturday.
Piatek returned to Italy after spells at Genoa FC and AC Milan with 62 games and 35 goals combined. Wearing number 19 in Florence, Piatek dreams about rebuilding his form after just scoring once for Hertha in the current German Bundesliga season.
"I really want to prove my worth. This is a great project and the team really plays attacking football. For me it's important," Piatek claimed during Saturday's press conference.
The loan is valid until the end of the season but the Pole hopes for a permanent transfer.
"For me it was crucial to return to Italy. I have received a very good offer. There is a future here, I want to stay. But firstly I will have to demonstrate my skills on the pitch," he added.
At Artemio Franchi, Piatek will probably be the substitute for the leading player of the team Dusan Vlahovic.
"He is a great striker and he has scored many goals but I'm also a player who showed the quality in Italy. I think we can also play together. I'm ready for the new challenge," Piatek summed up. ■
