PARIS, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- French football legend Michel Platini expressed his sadness after the death of Argentine great Diego Maradona on Wednesday, saying that "it's our past that goes away."
"I am very sad. I am nostalgic for what was a wonderful era," said Platini, who was one of the biggest rivals of the Argentine in the 1980s as the Frenchman played for Juventus against Maradona's Napoli.
"Diego has left a mark on my life," Platini told French radio station RTL.
Maradona died of a heart attack at the age of 60 on Wednesday at his home in the Tigre district, on the northern outskirts of Buenos Aires. ■
