BUENOS AIRES, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Diego Maradona Jr., son of the late Argentine football great Diego Armando Maradona, bid an emotional farewell to his father on Friday, with a moving message on Instagram.

"How happy I was with you ... you couldn't imagine, just looking at you next to me made me feel invincible!!!! How I'm going to miss your embrace," he wrote.

Maradona's oldest son added that he will miss sitting with his father "to watch a match of our beloved Napoli! And my children? How will they get along without such a loving grandfather???"

"Dad, captain of my heart, you will never die because I will love you until my dying breath!!" Maradona Jr. wrote.

Accompanying his message, Maradona Jr., a footballer who plays in an Italian division, posted some photographs of the two of them together.

Maradona Jr. was born on Sept. 20, 1986 in Naples, Italy, the offspring of Maradona's relationship with Cristiana Sinagra.

Maradona formally recognized his son in August 2016, and the two maintained close ties.

Maradona died at his home in the northern outskirts of Buenos Aires on Wednesday at the age of 60, after suffering a heart attack. Argentina's government declared three days of national mourning.
