GAZA, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- A 32-year-old Palestinian man named Osama Id'eih died in the hospital due to a critical injury during protests against Israeli soldiers near the borders between Israel and eastern Gaza Strip, official said Wednesday.

The announcement was made in a statement by Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of the health ministry run by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).

Last Saturday, medics said that 41 Palestinians were injured by Israeli soldiers in a demonstration organized by Palestinian factions.

After declaring the death of the man, Hamas said in a press statement that it will carry on with popular protests, adding that "the Palestinian people's resistance against Israel will continue by all means in all the Palestinian territories."

The statement also said that "all options of resistance are open to exert pressure on the Israeli occupation to lift the tight siege that has been imposed on the Gaza Strip since 2007." Enditem
