ISTANBUL, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- More than 2,300 competitors have recently participated in a tight race in Turkey on a software coding organized by the Chinese tech giant Huawei.

Cooperating with Turkey's Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA), Huawei launched the project in May to train talented software developers in Turkey.

The competition dubbed "Huawei Research and Development Coding Marathon" has been implemented in artificial intelligence (AI) and mobile services categories, according to a press release issued about the event.

The candidates from engineering and science faculties of universities completed a training period given by ICTA Academy before submitting their projects.

"We aim to cooperate with companies such as Huawei to enable our young people to develop and take us a step further," Omer Fatih Sayan, deputy minister of Transport and Infrastructure, said during the award ceremony in the capital Ankara on Wednesday.

Omer Abdullah Karagozoglu, chairman of ICTA, said that AI provides the biggest contribution to the development of ICTA nowadays, and the institution continues its efforts to include more talents in AI-related fields.

Li Jing, general manager of Huawei Turkey, said the company established its Turkey research and development center in 2009, and it has become the second-largest center outside China.

"More than 850 Turkish engineers raise our pride with the solutions they developed both for domestic and overseas markets," Li added. Enditem
