BEIJING, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.84 percent, at 3,597.04 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.26 percent lower at 14,277.34 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices reached over 1.43 trillion yuan (about 221.38 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.71 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks related to photovoltaic and coal mining sectors led the gains, while those related to semiconductor chips led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.51 percent to close at 3,138.8 points. Enditem
