The EU on Monday recommended that its member states reintroduce restrictions on travellers from the United States due to a surge in COVID-19 infections there.
Apart from the U.S., the EU also removed Israel, Lebanon, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Kosovo from the safe list of countries and regions for nonessential travel.
The recommendation is not binding but travellers from these countries and regions will face increased scrutiny and restrictions when they travel to the EU, including mandatory quarantine.
