GARDEZ, Afghanistan, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- A paper mill has resumed operation and produced some 8,000 bunches of paper round the clock in Afghanistan's eastern Paktia province.
According to Gul Rahman, an official at the factory, some 30 workers are now working in the factory, and the factory will employ more workers if its business expands.
The mill's paper products were in the past exported to various countries and used in government offices, according to Rahman.
Rahman also called upon local businessmen to increase investment and help create job opportunities in efforts to reduce poverty in the war-torn Central Asian country.
Production activities are gradually resuming in some of Afghanistan's provinces. On Sept. 19, a war-damaged cotton processing factory reopened in Kunduz city, capital of the northern Kunduz province. Enditem
