Slovenia's Aug exports jump 25 pct y-on-y

LJUBLJANA, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Slovenia's August exports of goods soared by 25.4 percent year-on-year to 2.8 billion euros (3.24 billion U.S. dollars), while August imports of goods reached 3.3 billion euros and were 39.4 percent higher than in the same month of 2020, the statistics office said on Friday.

It said exports, which are an important drive of the Slovenian economy, rose by 19.5 percent year-on-year in the first eight months of 2021 while imports were up by 26.9 percent. The country had a trade deficit of 348.4 million euros from January to August 2021.

In August, the highest increase in the value of exports was recorded in the sectors of medicines, pharmaceutical products, aluminium and electric energy. The highest increase of imports was recorded in the sector of chemical products.

Slovenia exports about 67 percent of its total exports of goods to other EU member states. It's main exports include pharmaceutical products, cars, car parts and household appliances. (1 euro=1.16 U.S. dollars) Enditem
