SANAA, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- At least three Ethiopian migrants were killed and six others wounded in a crossfire in the past 24 hours when they were trying to illegally enter Saudi Arabia from Yemen, medics told Xinhua on Thursday.
They said the migrants were caught in an exchange of artillery shelling and heavy machine guns between the Yemeni Houthi rebels and Saudi border guards while they were trying to cross into Saudi Arabia on foot in the Monabih district of Yemen's northern Saada province.
Such accidents have been frequently reported in this area, one of the busiest routes to enter Saudi Arabia among illegal migrants.
According to the International Organization for Migration, Yemen remains a transit country for tens of thousands of migrants traveling between the Horn of Africa and Saudi Arabia despite years of war. Enditem
