HAIKOU, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Coconut carving is a traditional carving art made of coconut shells, wood and palm, which is popular in south China's Hainan Province. The origin of coconut carving in Hainan can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907), with a history of more than 1,000 years. In 2008, coconut carving was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage.
Coconut carving can be made into many products, such as vases, bowls, decorative paintings, screens and some daily necessities.
