4 children, grandmother fatally shot at home in U.S. California

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Four children and their grandmother were found fatally shot Sunday night inside a home in Lancaster in western U.S. state of California, authorities said Monday.

The incident was reported approximately 10:27 p.m. Sunday local time on the 3500 Block of Garnet Lane in Lancaster in northern Los Angeles County, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

"When deputies arrived they found a female Black adult suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso. The deputies also located a female juvenile and three male juveniles all under the age of 12 years old suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso," said the Sheriff's Department in a news release, adding that all five victims were pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics.

A male Black adult, 29-year-old Germarcus David, was detained when he arrived at the Lancaster Sheriff's Station lobby. David is the father of the juvenile victims and son-in-law of the deceased female Black in her 50's, the Sheriff's Department added.

The suspect is being held in lieu of 2 million U.S. dollars bail and expected to appear in a court Tuesday, said officials.

Officials said that homicide investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting incident. Enditem
