BARCELONA, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Four people, including two children, lost their lives in a fire in Barcelona on Tuesday, local rescue services have confirmed.
The fire started at around 6 a.m. local time in a former bank office in the city's Plaza Tetuan.
Barcelona Fire brigade division chief Angel Lopez said that the fire was fully developed when the fire brigade arrived at the scene with eight fire engines. While they were extinguishing the flames, four people were "discovered unconscious in the cellar."
"Efforts were made to reanimate them, but nothing could be done as they had already passed away," Lopez said. "One of these people was a baby and the other a three-year-old boy."
Lopez confirmed that investigations are being carried out into the cause of the fire.
Four other people also needed treatment for injuries suffered in the blaze and smoke inhalation, but their lives are not in danger. Enditem
