BEIJING, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Domestic adventure movie "Schemes in Antiques" on Wednesday continued to top the Chinese mainland box office chart, data from the China Movie Data Information Network showed Thursday.
Adapted from a novel of the same name, the movie tells a story of a series of adventures of the main characters to find out the truth surrounding a Buddha head from the Tang Dynasty (618-907). It generated about 16.8 million yuan (about 2.6 million U.S. dollars) on its sixth day of screening, accounting for 50 percent of the day's total.
The domestic comedy-suspense film "Be Somebody" came in second on the box office chart, raking in around 8.1 million yuan on Wednesday.
It was followed by the "The Battle at Lake Changjin," with daily revenue of around 1.3 million yuan. The patriotic blockbuster is currently the highest-grossing title of all time at China's box office, with a total revenue of more than 5.73 billion yuan since its Sept. 30 release. Enditem
