A Chinese official said that China's whole-process people's democracy is rooted in the history and culture of China and suited to the country's national conditions.
The remarks were made by Xu Lin, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the State Council Information Office, earlier this month at a press conference in Beijing.
He said that China's whole-process people's democracy is a model of socialist democracy that covers all aspects of the democratic process and all sectors of society. It is true democracy that works.
He also said that, with distinctive Chinese characteristics, China's whole-process people's democracy draws on the achievements of human civilization, exemplifies common values of humanity, enriches international politics, and contributes China's ideas and solutions to the development of democracy.
