RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- Internacional announced the departure of Uruguayan manager Diego Aguirre on Wednesday after a poor finish to the Brazilian Serie A season.
The 56-year-old oversaw 11 wins, 12 draws and 12 defeats after replacing Spaniard Miguel Angel Ramirez in June.
"Internacional and Diego Aguirre jointly decided to terminate their employment contract," read a statement on Internacional's official website. "We thank you for your professionalism and wish you success in the continuation of your career."
Assistant manager Juan Verzeri and head fitness coach Fernando Pinatares will also leave the Porto Alegre club.
Internacional finished 12th in this year's Brazilian Serie A championship, which ended earlier this month.
The Colorado are one of Brazil's most successful clubs, having won three Serie A titles and two Copa Libertadores trophies. Enditem
