Tunisian president, Greek FM discuss ties, anti-pandemic cooperation

TUNIS, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian President Kais Saied on Tuesday met with visiting Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias to discuss the bilateral ties and cooperation on the fight against COVID-19.

Saied expressed deep thanks to Greece for standing by Tunisia during the current delicate circumstance, saying that this would strengthen the historical friendly ties between the two countries, said the Tunisian presidency in a statement.

Saied explained that the exceptional measures he took on July 25 fall within the framework of the Tunisian constitution, said the statement.

The president stressed that the democratic path in Tunisia will continue according to the people's will, in order to build the rule of law on new foundations that will eliminate corruption.

For his part, Dendias expressed his country's attachment to the friendly relations that unite the two countries.

Tunisia has received a Greek donation of 100,000 doses of anti-coronavirus vaccine, the Tunisian presidency announced.
