CONAKRY, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Guinea's coup leader, president of the National Committee for Rally and Development (CNRD), Mamady Doumbouya was sworn in Friday before the Supreme Court of Guinea as the West African nation's transitional president.

The ceremony was attended by ambassadors accredited to Guinea and a Malian delegation led by the president of the National Transitional Council of Mali, Malick Diaw.

"Me Mamady Doumbouya, President of the Transition, I swear before the people of Guinea to preserve in all loyalty the national sovereignty, to respect and to ensure respect for the provisions of the Charter of the Transition, human dignity, the laws and regulations of the Republic, to fulfill my functions in the best interests of the nation, to consolidate the democratic gains, to guarantee the independence of the fatherland and the integrity of the national territory", said Doumbouya.

Immediately after his inauguration as transitional president, Doumbouya reaffirmed the CNRD's commitment to ensuring the re-foundation of the state. He said all the organs of the transition including the transitional government and the National Transitional Council would play their role in the success of the political transition.

He reiterated his will to respect all the national and international commitments to which the country has subscribed. Enditem
