Ethnic Miao women visit the Liuzhou Museum in Liuzhou City, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Oct. 13, 2021. A series of exchange activities were held in Liuzhou on Wednesday and Thursday for ethnic Miao women from Wuying Village. Located deep in the mountains straddling the border between Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Guizhou Province, Wuying is a remote village inhabited by the Miao ethnic group where women over 40 have hardly ever attended any school. Since March 2020, local authorities have piloted a training program at Wuying Village as part of the local poverty alleviation efforts, employing college students to teach stay-at-home women Mandarin, music, dance and other skills.
