ROME, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- A|X Armani Exchange, Jil Sander and Trussardi were among the fashion brands that took center stage on Wednesday at Pitti Immagine Uomo, the menswear trade show that kicked off in Florence from Jan. 7 to Jan .10.
Pitti Immagine Uomo, now in its 97th edition, is a bi-annual gathering that attracts retailers, editors, and menswear enthusiasts from around the globe.
Jil Sander is the guest designer of the current edition, with co-creative directors Lucie and Luke Meier presenting the new menswear collection of the iconic fashion house on Wednesday.
Their designs are described as "an ongoing search for a balance between respect for the minimalist codes that made the brand's history and the will to excite, along with a great attention to detail", Pitti Uomo Communications Director Lapo Cianchi said in a statement.
Also on Wednesday, A|X Armani Exchange presented its fall/winter 2020/21 collection in a space called A|X Park, in which visitors must make their way through a labyrinth of LED lights to access the clothes, which feature bright colors and baggy volumes and are strongly inspired by 1990s street culture, according to organizers.
Historic Italian leather goods brand Trussardi presents Beautiful Minds, a series of collaborations with select creative fashion and lifestyle talents: on Wednesday, the first of these talents will be the fall/winter 2020 collection designed by Giorgio Di Salvo, an art director who founded the cult streetwear brand United Standard in Milan in 2015.
Among its various sections, this year's Pitti Immagine Uomo includes the first edition of China Energy, described as "a new focus on the Chinese creative scene" and featuring collections by 10 Chinese designers and brands.
"We selected the brands for the first edition of China Energy by finding inspiration in Chinese youth culture...merging futuristic elements, modernity and classicism," Tasha Liu from Chinese retailer and designer incubator Labelhood, which was tasked with choosing the talents to bring to Pitti Immagine Uomo, said in a statement.
