PARIS, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Monday an investment package worth 800 million euros (929 million U.S. dollars) in industrial robotics.

The objective is to reindustrialize France with "technologies of tomorrow" in order "to avoid relocating to low-cost countries," he said during his visit to Saint-Etienne. "We need to robotize, to digitize our industry, to catch up," he said.

The goal is to promote "within five years" an industrial sector that combines "automation of manufacturing, artificial intelligence and connected objects," he said, explaining that half of the money will be invested in the design of robots that are integrated with artificial intelligence.

"We will help in the deployment of a real industrial transformation that will make it possible to reindustrialize France, rather than looking at the solutions of 30 years ago," he said.

Macron's announcement came on the heels of the presentation of the "France 2030" plan, which foresees the investment of 30 billion euros over five years in the development of France's industrial competitiveness and technologies of the future. (1 euro = 1.16 U.S. dollar) Enditem
